The event commenced with an inaugural address by Federal Environment Minister Steffi Lemke and Bavarian Environment Minister Thorsten Glauber, emphasizing the theme of this year's trade fair: “Adapting to the results of climate change.” German Chancellor Olaf Scholz further highlighted the event's significance through a video message, stressing the economic relevance of the industry and the importance of a circular economy in addressing supply chain stability, de-risking, and raw material security. “We want to create good framework conditions so that your industry continues to grow,” Scholz stated. “Everything else you need for this - innovative companies, pioneering technologies, and exciting products - can be found at IFAT.”
Key topics encompassed the circular economy and community resilience in the face of climate change. Industry leaders showcased cutting-edge solutions for managing extreme weather conditions and advancing water and waste management technologies.
